News and gossip from the past 48 hours at Stamford Bridge. Edinson Cavani has dominated the headlines this weekend in regards to chelsea-fc/">Chelsea FC with varying rumours over the future of the player. The Uruguayan has reportedly agreed terms with Chelsea FC but as yet the Premier League club have not managed to come to an agreement with his club Napoli over a price. Reports today suggest that The Blues are willing to spend £45 million on the player but will not meet the £52 million buy-out clause in his current contract. Cavani himself has stated he no longer wants to talk about his future while other reports have suggested that he now intends on signing a new contract at the club and staying until 2018. Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a shock bid for Fernando Torres. He is being viewed as a plan C option if deals for Gonzalo Higuain and Wayne Rooney do not come off this summer. Jose Mourinho has given his squad more time off ahead of the new season. The Blues had to play 69 games in a hectic season in 2013-14 and therefore Mourinho believes they need an extra week off to recuperate. He has therefore pushed back their start of pre-season training until June 8th. Chelsea are also being linked with a £20 million bid for Wayne Rooney themselves. It comes amid the confusion over the Edinson Cavani transfer and the suggestion is that Robert Lewandowski may also come up on the radar should they fail in both those bids. Chelsea have reportedly won the race to sign West Brom wonderkid Isaiah Brown. The 16-year-old was also a target for Arsenal but Chelsea have won the race for his signature; subject to a tribunal to decide on compensation for the player. This weekend Chelsea have also been marking 10 years to the day since Roman Abramovich took over the club. In the decade since he has funded the clubs most successful ever era and brought in club legends such as Petr Cech, Didier Drogba and Jose Mourinho. Chelsea are also being lined with plenty of other players this weekend. Dubbed the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ Bruma of Sporting Lisbon has been touted. Daniele De Rossi of AS Roma and Stephan El Shaarawy have also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
