News (jatinder) 116 AYUARVEDIC MEDICAL OFFICERS RECRUITED IN PUNJAB: MITTAL · ALL SET FOR EQUIPPING 200 PHC’s, 5 AYURVEDIC HOSPITAL, 07 ISM WINGS & ONE PANCHKARMA CENTER MOHALI · HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO ESTABLISH SEVEN NEW WINGS OF INDIAN SYSTEM OF MEDICINES · SUBMITS RS 67.5 CRORE PLAN FOR UPGRADING AYURVEDIC WING CHANDIGARH, JULY 5: The Punjab Government today approved a major plan to strengthen the Ayurvedic wing of Health Department and has recruited 116 Ayurvedic Medical Officers to fill all vacant posts in various dispensaries. Disclosing this here today Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal, Health and Family Welfare Minister, said that after so many years recruitment has been made in the Ayurvedic wing and he would personally handover job letters to all new appointees. Minister said that in the state 200 Primary Health Centres, 5 Ayurvedic Hospitals, 7 Indian System of Medicines (ISM) wings & Panchkarma Centre at Mohali are being equipped with latest Ayurvedic facilities and infrastructure is also being strengthened. He said that department plans to establish 12 specialty clinics in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and seven new Indian System of Medicines (ISM) wings in the district hospitals of Mansa, Patiala, Kapurthala, Moga, Muktsar, Faridkot and Fatehgarh Sahib. He added that the requirement for free medicine supply is going to cross Rs 5 crore in the year as demand for the free medicine supply at all Ayurvedic dispensaries has increased very fast. He said that the daily average patients coming for treatment at the dispensaries has gone from 15 to 35. Minister said that Arogya Melas in different districts are getting very good response in the state Ayurveda Department soon going to organsie a sixth such Mela at Patiala. Mr. Mittal said that the department has sought a grant of Rs 67.5 crore from the Centre, for the year 2013-14 to strengthen the Indian Medical System. Director, Ayurveda Dr. Rakesh Sharma said that there are 296 manufacturing units for Ayurvedic medicines in Punjab. It is now all set to see the Herbal Health Research Consortium Pvt Ltd (HHRC project) promoted by the Department of Ayush in collaboration with 29 Ayurvedic manufacturers at Amritsar. He said that the cluster is expected to prove much more effective than the efforts of lone enterprises.
