No work under sun, govt cautions firms 423 violations detected Updated on: 28/06/2013 KUWAIT CITY, June 27: Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Dousari disclosed that the labor inspection unit recorded 423 violations against some employers in private sector for breaching ministerial decree number 189/2010 that prohibits the companies from making their employees work outside in the open from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm during the peak season and throughout June until the end of August. In a statement, Al- Dousari explained the ministry will implement strict legal measures against violators, to curb violations against the expatriate workers and deter companies and heartless employers who have no conscience when they demand their employees to work in the sun under harsh weather. Al-Dousari called on the owners of companies and employers to abide by the ministerial resolution for the safety of their employees, particularly in the holy month of Ramadan, adding the ministry will not hesitate to take legal action against violators of the ministerial decree. The law obliges employers to provide employees working in open area and under harsh summer weather caps that will protect them from the sun, gloves, suitable shoes and cold drinking water, in addition to protective coats during the rainy season.
