Noah – Review Visually sumptuous as expected of Darren Aronofsky even more so in IMAX. You all know the basic outline or you thought you did , well it’s fleshed out with great intro and expanded upon with a chunk of drama and a few big speeches for a well cast Russell Crowe , the story flows well enough and is directed at a good pace , keeping levels of tension when needed , the problem I found was no matter the drama or action at hand the visuals sorry about the pun , swamp it , with great use of animation and the epic scale of the Arc construction and the stunning use of natural landscapes reminded me of scenes from The Two Towers , other sections were almost documentary style montage , even so Noah is well acted and in the presence of Jennifer Connelly , Anthony Hopkins , Emma Watson and especially Ray Winstone very well cast , the Connelly and Crowe dynamic as seen before in A Beautiful Mind works to great effect and they and the director expand upon the story and bring the audience along for an interesting and rewarding experience and is especially worth seeing on a large screen. Noah to me is by no means an true epic but expands upon Aronofsky’s body of work and continues to confirm him as a visual stylist and very interesting director who constantly chooses a diverse array of subjects to work on. 7/10
