#NorthernGoldCoastWeatherWatch TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for DAMAGING WIND, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the Scenic Rim and parts of the Ipswich, Somerset, Southern Downs, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Moreton Bay Council Areas. Issued at 2:07 pm Monday, 8 December 2014. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Allora, Clifton, Maroon Dam and the NSW border. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect the area north of Warwick, Laravale and Maryvale by 2:35 pm and Warwick, the area east of Warwick and the area northeast of Warwick by 3:05 pm. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
