Not long to go now until our Bright Smile for a Brighter Future charity event!!! As you know, we are carrying out teeth whitening on the day. We have put some Q&As below to help you understand more about the whitening process. Please keep liking and sharing to spread the word about this great event. Thanks What is tooth whitening? Tooth whitening is the process of brightening stained, discoloured, or dull teeth. How do I whiten my teeth? At Truss Dental we use a clinically proven and safe method of tooth whitening. We will provide you with a custom made tray and you will wear the tray and whitening gel for between 30 minutes and overnight for about 14 days. What are the side effects? The most common side effect of tooth whitening is a temporary increase in sensitivity. Some people also experience some mild irritation to their gums, but again this is brief. Is tooth whitening available to everyone? No, the following groups cannot receive tooth whitening: If you are under 18; if you have a known sensitivity or allergy to Carbamide Peroxide or Hydrogen Peroxide; if you are pregnant or a breast feeding mother; if you are not dentally fit (we will complete an oral health assessment on your first visit) I have crowns, bridges and old tooth coloured fillings, will tooth whitening work on these teeth? No, tooth whitening does not work on any type of false teeth or filled teeth. In some cases, surface staining will be removed and the restoration will return to its original colour. If you have any questions, just give us a call on 01294277850. How long will the teeth whitening effects last? In most cases the teeth that have been whitened will have the effect for up to three years. This is dependent on dietary factors or if you are a smoker. We recommend regular top ups, but best speak to your dentist about this. What if I am not registered at Truss Dental can I still have the treatment? As this is a charity event, we are happy to whiten your teeth after an oral health assessment (dental examination). This will not change your registration with your present dentist and we would prefer that you consult your own dentist prior to the event.
