Not sure if Ive posted this before. Words from Absalom (lived around 1000 BC) taken by dictation (inspired writing) by Sue. Religion. What is religion? There are many people on your side of life who have differing views and theories. Football at the moment is often classified as a religion – in fact there are probably more people who go to football matches than go to church. They gather, sing songs, worship their idols and they gain something from the experience. Elation if it is a win, bitter disappointment if their team lose. But it is a coming together of like minded people, even though some elements are perhaps not to everyone’s taste – they still have a similar bond. The Christian church, Judaism, the Muslim religion, Buddhists, Hindus and all the other less prominent religions all started out with an ideal. A goal, an inspiration and direction. Through some prophet or seer, they were given a vision of people coming together in one cause to honour or worship God or whatever interpretation each religion put on that idea. Some still believe that God is in superhuman form. The great stories of a wise and powerful and vengeful man sitting on a throne with a long white beard and long white hair, dishing out laws and creeds to various devout beings on earth. This conception fed simple minds of the time. The modern and inquisitive mind of today is far more sceptical of such a notion. Other religions have other visions of their supreme spiritual ruler or rulers, as some religions worship various gods. Religion is in the best part, bringing people together in a common cause of love and compassion and truth. In its worst part it is political and dominant, arrogant and destructive. What makes the difference then? MAN of course. Man’s perception of ‘God’ has brought about many wars, millions of deaths – and remember we in Spirit are the ones that have to sort all these souls out once they come over from earth, traumatised, maimed ‘in spirit’ and totally confused about their new state of life. If man had one brief moment to see how we work on the Spirit side of life – maybe he would think differently. Religion plays an important part in many peoples’ lives – they need a sense of purpose, a vocation, a cause or a direction and many religions can provide this, but when a religion dictates to its followers that they must dress in a certain way, not eat certain foods, not allow equal rights and respect then this has nothing to do with God, it is all to do with man’s dominance of man, and of course woman. It is better to follow a spiritual path of love and tolerance, compassion and kindness, simplicity and truth than a religious path that is dictated by everyone but God. Some of you may have been brought up in the religious beliefs of your family and now you are on a different spiritual path. Sometimes it is not easy to change the mind habits of a lifetime but remember in Spirit we are of the Spirit, and you are of the Spirit – you are spiritual beings and only answer to God not man. I am not religious, I am spiritual. I am Absalom.
