November 6th, 2013. Today I am grateful for having a wonderful and close connection to Freddy. He may be small at 15-17lbs but he sure is STRONG in letting me know what he needs and wants. Hes a wonderful communicator and is always happy to remind me to slow down and take the time to smell the flowers, literally. With Freddy I am constantly reminded to just enjoy the simple things life has to offer. What joys he experiences be it running freely in perfectly formed figure 8s in the grass or expressing his pride via fast tail wagging and a wiggly little body over learning a new trick we both worked on or a silly little antic he does like poking his nose or paw in my coat pocket for hidden treats. The soft yet firm nose taps on my lower leg when were out walking to tell me, Hi, Im here. I love you! or CANDY!! GIMME CANDY NOW! or PICK ME UP! And the occasional cold wet nose gently touching my own nose to wake me up in the mornings or the pouncing and jumping on the bed to remind me to feed him his midnight snack before we go to sleep. Even his dirty looks aimed at me when I put a coat on him, haha! He sure lets me know his displeasure at that! Or when I give him a specific treat and he actually shakes his head ever so slightly and refuses to accept it, backing away ever so slightly looking at me and saying with his eyes, Dont you have something better to eat? Like *meat* or CANDY? Or the way he nuzzles his head into my chest if Im holding him and he detects my heartbeat racing before I even notice it so he alerts me to remind me to slow down. In his own special way Freddy sure knows how to communicate with me. I am most grateful for that. Im super thankful for Freddy, thats for sure. :)
