Now that weve go over the hullabaloo of the Giants Castle weekend - TopicsExpress

Now that weve go over the hullabaloo of the Giants Castle weekend (it was a great weekend) its time to have another look at the day trip to Creighton on July 6th. Weve previously given the details of the Aloe Festival with contact details, but if you need them again, please ask. The options are several, including steam train rides, hot-air balloon trips and a few other things, but youll have to take a look at their website for details and to make bookings. Its a great time out in a lovely country environment, well worth the trip from Durbs or Maritzburg. If youve never done the train trip, its a good idea, and of course if youd prefer to make a weekend of it, there are several establishments that offer B&B. The train trips will also take place on the two following weekends for those of you who arent able to get a booking for the weekend of 5th and 6th. Well be heading out of Maritzburg by about 7.00 am (its a trip of just more than one hour,) and will spend some time at the station and the farmers club photographing people and the train being readied. Then well head for vantage points to see the train along its route and at its destination, all the way taking time to photograph homesteads and people. If possible well get up into the hills above the aloe valley for that spectacular view, returning to Creighton some time after the train. Being mid-winter, there will be plenty of smoke in the air from grass fires, so dont expect champagne vistas, but theres plenty of interesting material. Then of course, there are some aloes. Ill be taking three of our gang along, but please contact me regarding times and places so that we can get together at Creighton. Look forward to seeing you there.
