OBEDIENCE AND WORKS, YOU CANT HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER.... NUMBERS 22:1-9. VICTORY!!! The first great success was the result of complete obedience to Gods will. This victory, along with others that followed, began an important era in Israels history. The Israelites were able to see the truth of Joshua and Calebs advice --- FAITH WOULD BRING VICTORY OVER ANY ENEMY OR OBSTACLES. God delights in demonstrating his power in the lives of those who trust him to overcome lifes obstacles. Our powerlessness over any problem can be covered by Gods unlimited power to act on our behalf. In the New Testament book of John, Jesus used this incident as an illustration of what Jesus did on our behalf: AND AS MOSES LIFTED UP THE BRONZE SNAKE ON THE POLE IN THE WILDERNESS, SO THE SON OF MAN MUST BE LIFTED UP, SO THAT EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. Notice here that that Moses resume his role as Israels leader and mediator even after he was judged for his sin at Meribah. His failure undoubtedly brought him a great deal of personal pain and disappointment. Moses would lead several million Israelites to the Promised Land but would never enter it himself. In spite of this, Moses shows no bitter feelings toward God; neither did he neglect his responsibilities. Mosess recovery from this personal failure and his continued faithful service are evidence of Moses great faith and dependence upon God. Our mistakes dont disqualify us from future success; they provide opportunities for learning, growth, and dependence on God. Evident in both passages is Gods saving grace, which provides salvation and healing for anyone who responds in faith. Healing did not come to everyone in Israel but only to those who by faith looked at the bronze snake on the pole. The apostle John makes it clear that personal forgiveness and victory over sin can come only to those who look to Christ on the cross. Only God can provide the powerful means of restoration and salvation from sin and failure; we need to receive it in faith. *LordWithOutYouThereIsNoMe*
