OK. The thumb picture was a kind of experiment. I was talking about my chronic cynicism last night to fellow chaplain Wendell Bradley. I bet him a dollar I could post something as silly as my big toe and it get more likes, attention, and publicity than something I feel very passionate about. I shared a link to a benefit for two firefighters that are battling cancer in the same department. When I posted my thumb, the benefit had received 6 likes. My thumb on the other hand tripled that number in the first hour. There was nothing special about it, just a thumb. Now it has gathered the same number of likes but still less comments than my Are you Damaged post. I am disheartened. I have this terrible sinking feeling that I am doing something wrong when a simple picture of a thumb gets 4 times the number of likes and comments that a post about two local firefighters who need our help got. I think I need to rethink my activity on fb....
