ON THE FENCE: PART I: Are you on the fence as to whether you - TopicsExpress

ON THE FENCE: PART I: Are you on the fence as to whether you believe there is a God or not? Do you sit there knowing there is some kind of power out there, but haven’t quite put it down to being God? Are you fearful that if you do put it down to being ‘God’ that your loved ones may sit in judgement of you and you may lose a friend or two because their beliefs are different to yours? Or do you yourself fear acknowledging it is God because you believe you have to change your entire life to commit to Him? You see, I have been on this same fence and whilst I was sitting there and after a while I said “God, if you exist, please reveal to me the truth so I know what side of this fence I want to walk on” When the truth is revealed to you, it sits comfortably in your heart and forms your belief system. And despite others having different ideals or beliefs to yours, you remain firm in these beliefs because you sought the truth and He revealed it to you. Now don’t get me wrong, there will be others along your journey who will be standing firm in their beliefs too ... but the difference will be, did they ask for the truth directly from God or did they conform to the beliefs of others to be socially accepted? You may ask “If there is only one bible, why have we ended up with so many denominations upon the earth?” Well, inconsistencies can be in any area of our lives ... at work, at home or in a sports team. Even though there are rules (verbal or written) surrounding each of these areas, all it takes is one to go against the grain, and voila, we have inconsistency. Then, imagine if that one was a shepherd, who managed to influence all those little sheep to follow them ... I imagine this is how religion has ended up this very same way too. People usually interpret things to suit their way of thinking and if it doesn’t suit them, they change it to suit or they disregard it all together – hence we have believers and non-believers; and hence we have so many interpretations of this Great Book – the Bible. I am a Christian. If you break it down, this means I am ‘In Christ’. I will not be labelled by a denomination. I consider myself to be taking a Spiritual walk with my Heavenly Father because I seek the truth and do not believe that I can trust in man to deliver – I believe that God lives and Jesus is the Christ – and this is where my trust wholeheartedly lays ...
