ONE MORE TIME: The older I get the more grateful I am For the little things, One more time of packing and double checking your gear. One more weekend on the road. One more time walking in and greeting everyone & enjoying the smell every type of building a school, rec center or an Armory has its unique smell. One more time sharing a locker room with brothers both old & new, the jokes the ribbings the road stories. One more locker room meeting to run as I speak I watch the young guns hang on every word. One more locker room prayer to deliver as I bring us together in a prayer of protection and entertaining those that thought enough of us to buy a ticket. One more time getting dressed and lacing up the 18 inch patent leather boots made by our friend Noel (RIP) in Texas nearly 20 years ago. One more time chatting up the kid or kids I am blessed to be in there with. One more time watching guys on before me and offering any advice. One more time having guys come up and say Cue what about this for a finish One more time waiting for my music to hit looking my opponent in the eyes and saying be safe brother a hand shake and a hug before we part to only meet minutes later. ( I may miss this most) One more time walking thru the curtain hearing me be announced as I strut with the evil eyes that say I am better than you. (I am not but its my job) throwing the left knee up to the apron as thankfully my body always follows. One more time of circling my opponent before the lock up savoring this moment. One more time of doing what I do best either getting the baby a huge pop or the air getting sucked out of the building. One more time of the breaking bread with the boys or cracking a cold one. One more time of the long ride home breaking down everything I should have or could have done different in my match. In 32 years there have been a lot of ONE MORE TIMES As they slowly come to an end I will miss them all, and all I can say is I wish everyone got to do for 32 years what they decided at age 9 that this is what I want to do, oh we should all be so fortunate. PEACE, LOVE & RESPECT.
