OOUSUG should stop trading our future with politics When some - TopicsExpress

OOUSUG should stop trading our future with politics When some of the present OOUSUG leaders wanted to contest for the elections, they renounced membership of CDHR, after collecting brown envelopes from some quarters. The Collection of envelopes continued until a point, when the CDHR reminded them of the oath they sworn to, like we students sworn an oath during our matriculation- their own oath is more coloured sha ooo. They ran back to the association when they knew the implication of the oath. Meanwhile, an opposition political party has been on the neck of the CDHR to ground the government activities in the state so that they could use that to win public sympathy in 2015. No wonder, we have not left the front of mini campus, the agents of the party had started broadcasting that Ago-Iwoye was on fire. Was there any fire in front of Mini-Campus that day, we are intellectuals, we do not fight like political thugs. we are very peaceful on our demands. The CDHR saw the need to use their members who are bulk of the OOUSUG to satisfy their paymasters. The members after collecting another brown envelopes, bigger than the ones earlier collected, promised that the assignment would be delivered before they leave OOU through a needless struggle. Like one of the posts on the facebook that the same SUG prior to their elections mobilized the entire oouites to demand for elections knowing fully that a 400 level may not be a good candidate cos of this type of issue. The School Mgt consented to the demand unsuspecting of their plans to be used by the political godfathers to foment trouble later on. To a sane mind, the same struggle would have been used to demand for the reduction in school fees and by now all of us would be in the same boat. But for their selfish reason, they won election under denouncement of CDHR, go back to the CDHR, finished their studies successfully preparing for their results to be released when they were reminded of their promises to cause chaos in OOU. it was at this time that the agitation started. Remembered they had already finished their final examinations now. Reliably, all of them are mobilizing for NYSC online leaving us at the mercy of closure of the school in the name of struggle occasioned by political calculations in the state. Very soon senate would approve their results and would leave us to our destinies. what is the logic behind this deceptive struggle! The implications of the closure of our university campuses are these: 1. if we spend additional one week at home, the session will be cancelled and those candidates who just wrote the PostUTME will be merged with our present 100 level whenever we are ready to resume. Definitely the reduced school fees would be implemented if we agreed that the session should be cancelled and we all repeat our present levels. who lost! 2. if after shifting ground by all parties involved in the dispute, there is sufficient time, we will definitely go into the examinations and rush to conclude the session by January 2015. then the reduction can take effect. on the fear of govt not implementing the reduction because of election, there are 10 institutions of higher learning in the state out which only OOU is in the only one running first semester, if govt does not implement d reduction for the other 9 institutions in their new session which hopefully will commence by November 2014 (2 months time) then we would have sufficient reason to doubt govt and protest even violently and we will gain more public sympathy and olabisi onabanjo will not be left out of the struggle as i believe in just cause. No union has refused to engage in negotiation and won anything and struggle is not about win-win situation. you have to win some things for us and concede some things and fight for them at another time. that is genuine struggle. In the spirit of Aluta and our collective academic progress/sojourn, i want to plead for genuine negotiation devoid of political interference, CDHRnism, JACnism, NANSnism, ERCnism so that we can have breakthrough. To some students benefiting from the struggle one way or the other let them have a rethink because i can see brighter future ahead of you if you channel your energy in the right direction. Ask for solution to your problems through legal means, u would have headway in Jesus name. Those that cannot afford the present fees can come back when the fees are reduced to continue, they should draw others back. I quite agree that fingers are not equal but we will all meet at a point at different times. i share in your sentiment. About my identity, i am student of the University, my name is Olabisi from Onabanjo family of Ijebu. My records are in the school for you to check. it is just a coincidence that i share same name wt d university. on my picture, loading........ Intelligent Aluta Continua, Enduring Victoria Ascerta.
