Officers from the Bucksburn Community Policing Team have targeted poor driving standards in the Dyce Drive area of Aberdeen during a two day operation between 7.30am and 9.15am [Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 June]. The officers conducted the operation at the Dyce Drive roundabout of the A90 following complaints from members of the public about bad driver behaviour in the area and as a result, 31 drivers were given warnings. Additionally, one driver was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for careless driving and other driver was given a Fixed Penalty Notice for a mobile phone offence. The two days of action fall under Aberdeen City Divisions Operation Whitebeam initiative which aims to improve road safety and motorists behaviour across the citys roads. Constable Paul Fraser, who took part in the operation, said: We have had a number of complaints from the public about motorists incorrectly using the nearside lane of the roundabout to enter Dyce Drive. This causes unnecessary hold ups at the roundabout and affects the flow of traffic and can also be a cause of collisions. As a consequence of Mondays efforts, the correct lanes were used by the majority of drivers the following day and this assisted with the flow of traffic. We want to encourage motorists to drive in the correct lanes which will ultimately benefit all road users.
