Ohio state is 6th in rushing yards and 9th in total yards. The reason Penn State was close is because theyre 1st in the nation in rushing defense, and second in total defense in terms of yardage. Also Barrett was playing hurt. Big ten is underrated because of the defenses. 7 teams in the top 21 in passing defense and 6 of the top 16 in total defense, including the top two (Ohio state beat both of them). Low scoring games go either way which is why the Big Tens record could be down. Yes, Va Tech was a bad loss, but they do have a top 20 defense in scoring and yardage. Baylor is 48th in defense and TCU is 58th. Ohio state is 16th. Baylor and TCU are both in the top 6 in offensive yards, but Ohio state is right behind them at 9. All 3 teams are top 5 in points per game. The difference in defense is much larger than the difference in offense between the Big Ten team compared to the Big 12 team. I think a lot of the discrepancy in offense could be the great defenses in the Big 10. The Big 12 have one team in the top 25 in scoring defense and total defense. The Big Ten is better than the Big Twelve. I rest my case and will take home the hardware.
