Ok, I thought the How white are you? quiz was funny and that it was unlikely anyone would take it too seriously. However, the How privileged are you? quiz is not funny *because* people might think the answer actually means something. The questions are good and perhaps thought provoking. My problem with it is that it adds up all the points into one score and from that declares an absolute statement. Which is maybe ok if it tells you that you are privileged and gets you to think. Not ok if it tells you that You are not privileged, which it did me. Ridiculous, and to the extent that anyone might take such quizes seriously, its a dangerous thing too. Of course I am not privileged... in SOME contexts. And Im very privileged in other contexts. The same for everyone else. Now, there are people who are privileged/not privileged in more contexts and people who are in fewer. There maybe fewer contexts in which I hold more privilege than a straight, white cis-male who can trace his family back in this country 400 years, but such contexts do exist. So it makes no sense to simply declare a score and a label and think that means something.
