Ok. So things are a little more intense than we initially thought. Im going to try my hardest to explain but feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer. First, her phneumothorax has completely resolved and is thankfully no longer and issue. However, Kylee has been given 3 shots of surfactant. Usually, a baby under respiratory distress is good after 1. Which led them to believe something else was wrong. They checked her heart and there lies the issue. You have a left and right ventricle. The left leads to your lungs and the right is the aorta to your body. Babies have and are born with, a special vein connecting the aorta and pulmonary artery because while inside mom, they dont yet breath air. Kylee was born without this special vein. This is very uncommon. Because of this, she tends to have high blood pressure which in turn makes it very difficult for her body to perform oxygenation. So. The trick is to keep her calm and relaxed. Which is easier said than done in such a firey little girl. She will be sedated. The doctor leading her care believes that its gonna get a lot worse. Hes talking about crazy meds Ill explain more once I do my own research and hes optimistic it wont happen, but a possible ECMO which is a bypass surgery that they would not be able to do here. Its a lot to process right now, but I strongly believe that God blessed me with this beautiful little girl and I strongly believe that God will help us through this. Please pray for our little girl and strength for us, too.
