Okay. Im officially making an angry post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about suicide. But the fact of the matter is that unless you failed to complete, nobody knows what is going through a persons mind when they end their own life. So, if you are going to say that it is a selfish act or anything negative please keep it to yourself because there are people like myself and my family who have been devastated from suicide and to be quite honest it infuriates me for people to judge what they do not know. Especially when in my case, it is my little brother who sadly is not here to speak for himself and I know that what he did was not selfish. The best way that I can put it is that for many years I saw him struggle and win endless battles against his own mind and he fought hard, but he ultimately lost the war. It goes way beyond selfishness to end your life and my heart aches for all who have had to endure the repercussions of mental illness. Each suicide is a different circumstance and more than anything we should be looking for a way to enhance our mental well being. I know that A LOT of support has been shown today for Robin Williams and his family, I just cant help but get defensive as I scan past the negativity because my own pain is still very raw and I suppose that I take it personally because thats what happens when you lose someone that you love more than yourself. Even if that is your opinion, sometimes its best to just keep it to yourself or maybe educate yourself a little bit about the different elements of suicide and not stigmatize it as a whole and assume that they were depressed and sad so they said screw everyone I love and myself, and end their life. That is ridiculous. A great deal of our population suffers from depression, so obviously that isnt the ultimate determinant in (not all) but a lot of cases. Im sorry- I dont like posting about this topic, but obviously I had something to say. I could go on, but rant over.
