Okay, so heres the deal, after giving it some thought. Ive always believed that people can be friends without agreeing on everything. Heck, in my own household, we vote on opposite ends of the political spectrum and yet still manage to live together comfortably even at election time. So, I dont require people to agree with me, my decisions and my choices in order to be friends. I do however require people to respect that those are my decisions and my choices and that there are perfectly valid reasons for them (just as you may have perfectly valid reasons for your opposing beliefs). I hang out on social media to have fun, read articles and chat with people I may never have met otherwise. I dont do it to make a big splash, drive social justice, question peoples religion or morality or whatever else people like to do on social media. You may have noticed how very rarely I even share something that could be controversial (although there was that cat pic the one time ...) Needless to say, if Ive never met you in person before and you have no actual in-person influence on my life, you really have no right to judge anything I choose to do. Even if you are someone I have chosen to let influence me, its still 100% by my rules. That being said, Im going into another round of clean up on the ol friends list. They now have multiple options so I dont have to simply go right to unfriend if we have other things we deal with each other on. But Im planning to make this space a little more me friendly so I dont have to keep scrolling by posts that irritate me. Anywho ... Thoughts for a Sunday afternoon.
