Okinawa remains in TCCOR-STORM WATCH. As of 3am today Typhoon Halong was located 239 nautical miles Southeast of Kadena. It had winds gusting to 110 knots near its center and was moving to the North-Northeast at 7 knots. The closest point of approach is forecast to be 200 nautical miles East at midnight tonight. If Typhoon Halong continues to move as forecast, damaging winds of 50 knots or greater (sustained) are not anticipated to occur. The strongest winds on Okinawa are expected to be sustained at 30 knots with 50 knot gusts at 2am Friday, according to the 18th Wing Weather Flight. You should still take precautions by securing any outside items that could be blown away. There could also be rainfall associated with the storm, and weve seen that flooding can happen in a short amount of time. Ensure you have prepped your home and work areas for any affects from the passing typhoon. Stay tuned to AFN FB, Radio and Television services for updates. --GySgt Griffin
