Omar Abdullah Meets BJP Leaders In Delhi To Discuss Govt Formation In J&K New Delhi: The BJP on Thursday moved closer to forming government in Jammu and Kashmir with the support of the National Conference in a proposal that ensures the chief minister’s post for it. This emerged after a meeting between National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and BJP president Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and party general secretary Ram Madav, who played a key role in Jammu and Kashmir elections. Mr. Abdullah, who was leaving for abroad, is said to have cancelled his trip and is likely to return to Srinagar. In the meeting broad parameters of the alliance were discussed with the NC leader placing his demands including a berth in the cabinet at the Centre. The BJP at 25, is three seats short of the largest winner, the PDP, but has the support of Ghani Lone’s two seats and the four independents all of whom are BJP rebels and backing the party. Taking this into account, along with NC’s 15 seats, the BJP gets 46 seats under its belt. It thus comfortably crosses the 44-seats mark required to form the government in the 87-seat JK Assembly. On Wednesday the BJP Parliamentary Board, which has Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a member, deputed Mr. Jaitley and national secretary Arun Singh as observers for election of a legislature party leader and to initiate talks with other parties for government formation. Both Mr. Jaitley and Mr. Singh have left for Jammu.
