Omar Barghouti has written of the promise of A Secular Democratic State in Historic Palestine. There are a number of other voices saying the same thing, i.e. a secular single state. I am 100% in favour of a single state, but not a secular one. That is frankly ridiculous. In fact the word bonkers isnt too inappropriate to use here either. How any Muslim can call for other Muslims to live under secularism is quite remarkable. Palestine is THE hub for THE most influential religion (The Abrahamic faiths) on the planet. There is a very good reason why it is known by the pseudonym THE HOLY LAND. It contains The most sacred sites in Christianity and Judaism, it also contains extremely significant sacred sites in the eyes of Islam. My proposal is a unified state administered by the Palestinians (to ensure reparations and justice can be delivered to the Palestinian victims of the long systematic plan of genocide theyve) - somewhat similar the the tribunals in South Africa after apartheid, but one that can punish as appropriate, and after some time, others can participate in administration. BUT each community must be allowed to follow its own religious law, Hence the Unified Inclusive Palestine needs to be a religious state with cross religious-panels holding arbitration should any dispute occur in day to day life.
