On Friday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. on STEPPIN’ OUT, Peggy Scott Laborde will present the third annual WYES CELESTE SEYMOUR JUDELL ARTS AWARD to Albinas Prizgintas. He has been chosen for his vision and drive to further extend musical arts in New Orleans. Mr. Prizgintas is currently the Director of Music Ministries at Trinity Episcopal Church and creator of the Trinity Artist Series, free music concerts for the community. The award is created in memory of WYES’ beloved and long-time volunteer extraordinaire, Celeste Seymour Judell. Mrs. Judell had a passion for the arts and worked tirelessly with various non-profit artistic and cultural organizations in the Greater New Orleans area including WYES, New Orleans Opera, New Orleans Ballet, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and many more. Past recipients include: Barbara Motley, 2011 and Dorothy Coleman, 2012. For over 55 years, WYES has worked to inform, teach, illuminate, entertain and inspire our entire community. It is the oldest public television station serving southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the 12th oldest in the nation, and the most utilized non-profit organization in our two states with as many as a half-million people using our broadcasts, outreach activities and website each week. We are proud to be part of the nationʼs largest classroom, the largest stage for the arts and a trusted window to the world. For more information, call (504) 486-5511 or visit wyes.org.
