On January 17, 2014 a fire began just after 1:00 a.m. in the 15,000 block of Childress Dr. The homeowner was able to make it out safely. However, Joe Yeakley, a Lindale firefighter, was in the house when part of the roof collapsed. Yeakley was flown to Parkland Medical in Dallas. Joe and Denise(his wife) have spent the past 10 months in Dallas as he recovered from the injuries suffered in the fire. He has been a volunteer at the department for the past 14 years. He also helped many families as a funeral director for Caudle Rutledge Funeral Home. After 10 months in Dallas Joe and Denise finally get to return home to Lindale. The Fire Department is inviting the community to a homecoming salute on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at approximately 4:30 pm. (Recommended that you come earlier) Community members are encouraged to bring signs and flags and line Main Street from I-20 to FM 16. Please help spread the word. Also, if your business has a sign that can be changed we hope that you will write a welcome home message for the Yeakley family. Happy Thanksgiving
