On Lateline tonight at 10.30pm: Chuck Close is one of America’s most important living artists. At 74 hes been painting what he calls heads for more than 50 years. He creates giant portraits of his family and some of his very recognisable friends, like President Obama, composer Philip Glass and actor Brad Pitt. But chuck close is an unlikely portrait artist. He has face blindness, a condition which makes it almost impossible for him to recognise peoples faces. A major exhibition of his work is on show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. Latelines Sashka Koloff spoke with its curator Terrie Sultan and visited Chuck Close at his New York studio.
