On Monday night, Durham University Brass Band welcomed former conductor and Durham graduate Dave Collins back to the music department to record his latest project UniTed. After securing the band the prize of Best Student Composition at UniBrass 2014 with The Lambton Worm, written with the bands current conductor Lewis Wilkinson, Dave was asked to compose a piece which could be performed by university bands all over the country to celebrate the fifth anniversary of UniBrass. Each band will be recorded separately and the finished product premiered at next years contest in February. Dave now works as a composer, arranger and conductor and his compositions have been performed all over the country. You can find out more at davecollinsmusic And even more exciting?
