On Tuesday, Governments from around the world gathered in Geneva - TopicsExpress

On Tuesday, Governments from around the world gathered in Geneva at a special conference aimed at increasing the number of resettlement places provided for refugees from Syria. According to the UN’s Refugee Agency, 28 countries have now pledged to resettle around 100,000 refugees from Syria. This includes 62,000 places already made available by governments. For every person currently struggling to survive in the countries neighbouring Syria, the increased chance of a resettlement place is life changing news. The British Government however, has failed to increase the number of resettlement places it is offering. Although, an urgent parliamentary debate how been called to discuss these issues in greater depth, more pressure needs to be put on government to ensure that the UK is doing as much as it can to help Syrias refugees.
