On a Monday at 2:50pm CST, 52 years ago today, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Victoria, Texas, I, John Courtney Pollard, weighing in at 7 lbs. 2 oz., was born to Grace Maxine (Van Hoesen) Pollard and Percy Fielding Pollard, Jr. of Sam Houston Drive. Although I was usually lovingly referred to as that little brat, or the demon hellion (mostly as I ran up and down the aisles of The Playhouse movie theatre DURING the movies), I never could have imagined then that my life would turn out the way that it has. I mostly have my extremely loving and more than understanding family to thank for all of this, as well as a web of friends that truly circles the globe. From NYC to Madrid, Berlin to San Francisco, LA to Zurich, and from London to San Antonio. Youve always had my back, sometimes literally giving me the clothes off your backs during the lean years. Id trade none of you for all the tea in China. I truly am one of the luckiest guys on the planet. You all make me who I am today. As I look forward, I am still reminded of the words of a great man: You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. Youre on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one wholl decide where to go... Dr. Seuss - Oh, The Places Youll Go! Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It truly means the world to me.
