On behalf of Nicks Army, we would like to congratulate Randy - TopicsExpress

On behalf of Nicks Army, we would like to congratulate Randy Johnson as he has been elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame! I am slightly ill to my stomach as I sit here in the office of the radiologist that took the very first x-rays and MRI that told us that Nicholas had a cancerous tumor growing in his leg. I havent had to step foot into this office in over two years since that dreadful day. My phone started lighting up with notifications as I am being tagged in posts saying that our friend Randy Johnson has been elected into the Hall of Fame. I then started receiving phone calls, notifications and texts that Randy gave a huge shout out to Nicholas in an interview! I was completely blessed by the excitement as my friends and family told me what they had just heard on the radio. The words Randy used almost seemed to downplay what he has done in life and the things we were going through were the real things. He said the 22 years of his life were kind of a fantasy. I sat there in tears as I listened Randys words and was completely blessed by the fact that he even mentioned my son on his monumental day. Real things. Randy, your kind of fantasy gave hope, happiness, and excitement to many people all over the world. Some of the troops that you mentioned as you described the real things in life, you gave them memories they may hold on to as they battle on those lines as they fight for our country. I have heard you say your wish is to teach and bless kids with dreams as they learn to play the sport of baseball. Those, my friend, are real things, they were the real things at that time in your life that gave you the ability to bless other people. Although, Nicholas was not a baseball fan, he was very aware you were a celebrity, therefore blessed by the fact that you spent a few hours of your life to spend time with him, eat donuts with him, and even push him in a stretcher in the sun. Your kind of fantasy gave the people doing the real things something to look forward to or even yet, to hold on to. Thank you, Randy, for the kind of fantasy as far as Im concerned youre as real as they get. By the way, I am sure Nicholas was looking down smiling as I ended up smiling sitting in that office, thanking God for putting you in our lives. And dont worry, Andrew was being seen today for a little chest pain, all is good in our world!! Many, many months back I posted what Hero means to me. Heroes? Often times I see posts about what a real hero is. Sometimes the quotes or captions often talk about what a hero doesnt look like. The latest one I have seen said something to the effect that heroes dont wear jerseys. Often times these intending inspirational captions put down a certain group of people as it builds up another. Whether it be a cancer patient, fire fighter, police officer or nurse. I think heroes come in all shapes, sizes and occupations. I have a hero fighting cancer, two heroes that have been going to school, running track and wear many hats while they watch their brother fight for his life, one that works everyday so I can be a nurse, mom, wife, and and advocate, as he deals with this cancer road providing for a family. We have heroes that are friends and family members that have taken unexpected turns in their lives to support us. Heroes that are our employers, educators, coaches, and even strangers that have stood by our side for the last eight months. We have met heroes that wear jerseys and crowns, for they take time out to visit our sick kids in the hospital, it means A LOT to those kids. Some heroes that have reached out to Nicholas during this battle carry badges and guns, some fight fires and save lives, some fight for our country and some take care of us almost every day as we deal with this beast called cancer. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, who are we to say who isnt a hero. They may not be your hero but they are hero to someone.
