On in Brisbane this weekend is the Parks Alive programme in the Roma Street Parkland. As part of this program, each day on Saturday and Sunday at 3pm Michael Dent from Aloe-Aloe will be talking on the subject “Where have all the flowers gone?” Michael will explore alternative arguments as to why there are so few flowers in our gardens and make a case for increased use of tougher flowering plants such as new flowering aloes. Clarifying the many myths associated with these big flowering perennials from Africa, Michael will explain how they are able to be reliably incorporated into our gardens so as to provide a kaleidoscope of colour and interest to visitors to our home gardens, be they humans, birds, bees or butterflies. All walks /talks will leave from The Hub which is located in the centre of the Parklands (below the Spectacle garden) See visitbrisbane.au/~/media/Generic/PDFs/ParksAliveFestivalProgram1_PDF.ashx for program details and for a map of the parklands showing the location of The Hub.
