On our way out of Kohls today, Kira and I overheard a conversation between an elderly woman and a lady trying to help her. The gist of it being that this elderly woman had been seen waiting outside and/or by the door for nearly two hours. The elderly woman said she was thinking of calling a cab and that the man that dropped her off had a cell phone but wouldnt answer it if she called. It was an effort for her to speak loudly enough to be heard and to be waiting there for 2 hours was rather cruel. We lingered because I wanted to hear if this situation would be resolved, I heard her say she had kids but they werent nearby to call and that she would just call a taxi. I stepped in and introduced myself and offered to drive her home. She said she didnt want to put me out, so I asked which direction she was headed and she pointed (very close by) and I said we were headed the same way. I picked her up at the curb and drove her home. She was quite uncomfortable with accepting help and was embarrassed to need the help and for having been left there. She insisted on giving me $5 for gas, although I told her I wouldnt spend near that in gas and it was my pleasure to drive her home at no cost. She insisted, so Kira just put $5 in her piggy bank (which on a side note, she calls a penny bank). I am glad I was able to help her and I am trying to not hold onto any anger towards this unknown man that left her behind. Then when she left the car, I had to face the wrath of Kira. I expected I would need to address the situation from the standpoint of driving a stranger home, which I had briefly explained to her on the way to the car/picking up the elderly woman at the curb...what I did NOT expect was that Kira knew I lied to the lady about going the same direction as she pointed. She was PISSED at me for lying about what direction we were headed. I explained why I lied and apologized but she is still mad at me. Where are the other 5 year olds that know which freaking direction you are going when you leave a busy shopping area?!? I mean, come on! lol
