The eternal forms of the gods were physically manifest;; a crowd was serving them in silence… he saw some reclining figures whose eyes were shining like beams of light…. Among the beings whom the texts claim that Alexander saw were _King Sosostris_, an African world conqueror, Serapis or Dionysius (a name for Osiris), Enoch and Elijah.
