On what basis does this introductory documentary on Yoga produced - TopicsExpress

On what basis does this introductory documentary on Yoga produced and officially released by Indias Ministry of External Affairs claim that Yoga is pre-Vedic? On one side we are celebrating 5151 years of the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Shastra (scripture on yoga), which is nothing but the quintessence of the Upanishads which are in turn the quintessence of the Vedas, and then here is a documentary which tells us that Yoga originated 5000 years ago in pre-Vedic times? (see 0.45 minutes onward) No Yogic tradition will accept this and why should we be made to accept something that some Indologists are telling us? In the Vedas we have the source of everything mystical and spiritual that came into existence on the Indian subcontinent. Every classical Yogic tradition in India has itself claimed its origin in the Vedas. In the Rig Veda, the most ancient and most sacred scripture of India, we find the word Yoga. Then how do we infer that it is pre-Vedic? The moment we use the word Vedic we are referring to the very origins and foundations of Indian culture, there cant be anything like pre-Vedic... It is sad that the producer of this otherwise beautiful documentary by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has fallen prey to the attempt of some modern thinkers who wish to alienate and uproot yoga completely from its Vedic spiritual and mystical context mostly for their selfish purposes. This should never be permitted. https://youtube/watch?v=DEwqGl0REXM
