Once again I find myself chiming in on something I normally wouldn’t. Those of you who know me, know I’m not really judgmental…because really…who am I to judge. My thing is, to each their own, a person is who a person is. When it does come to me judging somebody, I try to do so based on FACT. Being stationed in Italy I feel far removed from the events in Ferguson, Mo. As a matter of FACT, right now I couldn’t even point to Ferguson on the map without the help of Google. Another FACT is, I had never even heard of Ferguson, Mo. until this happened. The incident is sad – a teen was shot and killed by a police officer…FACT. That is the true FACT. Unfortunately the real FACTS have all been concerted and convoluted into “true” hearsay and conjecture. Personally I feel CNN, FOX, and all the major news organizations need to be charged with inciting riots. I’m sure they do not have the FACTs and they are putting their spin on it. Whatever it takes to get $$$$. I’ve noticed the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen saying “black teen killed by police officer”. Really? Not a “teen” killed, but a “black teen”. Why include “black” when referring to the teen? Why? Because it personalizes the incident. It and induces anger. It puts a spin on it. It stirs the coals. It causes NEWS. Better yet, it causes bad news, which could possibly cause worse news. It makes them money. The more they stir the more money there is to be made. Was the teen innocent? I don’t know. Was the officer justified? I don’t know. Why don’t I know? Because I wasn’t there, I’m in Italy…just like nearly a %100 of the people who read this, you weren’t there, so you don’t know the FACTs.
