Once again, another great week of volleyball! So proud of our teams! Congratulations for some great wins! 7th and 8th grade took victories at Russellville early in the week, and again at the Russellville Tournament with the 8th grade team, losing all its pool play matches, but regrouped during tournament play, and finished second in the Russellville Tournament. The JV team beat Athens earlier in the week, and took two victories at the Elkmont Tournament beating strong teams -West Lawrence, and East Limestone, and advancing to the semifinals of the tournament before falling in the third game to West Morgan. Congratulations to the Varsity girls for beating Athens and winning a very important AREA MATCH match!!! The varsity played Ardmore and John Paul Catholic later in the week. Ardmore and JP Catholic have good teams, evidence of lots of girls that participate in the spring club volleyball season. Despite it being the night before homecoming, our girls gave good effort, but too many defensive errors proved to be costly. Florence Falcon Volleyball has made a turn in the right direction, and we need to keep the momentum going!!! Hard work, dedication, sacrifice, togetherness, patience, belief, family, love, yes love! Love of the game, and for your teammates!! Volleyball is so different than any other sport you will play! Tell me what other sport do you leave on a bus at 6:30AM on a Saturday morning, set up a tent and table, everyone brings food to share and eat with others for the day, parents travel with chairs, coolers, some with TVs and a satellite, play all day, and return home at 8:30PM? You have to love to play volleyball, and love your teammates and family to do that weekend, after weekend, after weekend!! Gotta love it! A MUST DO: Parents there is a new Florence City Schools Transportation Permission Form. This form must be filled out and signed by all parents, either giving permission or simply signing stating you received and read the sheet, but does not pertain to your child. This sheet will be distributed Tuesday, September 23 at practice and must be returned on Wednesday, September 24 for us to copy and give original to Coach Graham. Parents, please remember your player must ride the bus to all volleyball matches, and must be signed out before leaving a game site.
