One Line Leads to Another .... ! As we stand in line for various goods and services, Let us not forget to pray for those who stand in line at prisons, crack houses, hospitals, nightclubs, casinos, and other places that effect their liberty and freedom. But let us reflect on what Jesus said:”Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. “Line upon line” Isa 28:13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. How often have we heard this? “And one thing lead to another”, and “rules were meant to be broken”. These statements seem to be universal excuses for sin in its various forms. The Word of God says that the law was made, “For the lawless and disobedient” 1Tim 1: 9. Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10. For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; God put laws in place to give us guidance, direction, instruction, and access to Him. Guidance to acceptance with him: “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Direction on where to go that we might find Him: “seek ye the Lord” Isa 55: 6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Zeph 2: 3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lords anger. Instruction as to our approach in worshiping Him: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving” Psalms 100: 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. “sing with the spirit and with an understanding” 1 Cor 14: 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. “Spirit and in truth” John 4: 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. And confidence with assurance that we have fellowship with Him: “We have this treasure in earthen vessels” 2 Cor 4: 7. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the Excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. “If ye have love one to another” John 13: 35. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Laws give us knowledge about the unacceptable behavior of yourself and others. “A thief and a robber” John 10: 1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. “All liars” Rev 21: 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. We also receive warnings at entrances. “Enter ye in at the Strait gate” Matt 7: 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. God’s great invitation “all ye that labour and are heavy laden” Matt 11: 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Heb 12: 22. But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23. To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24. And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. 25. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: “BEHOLD I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK”
