One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone is in one of my stores & they say something like oh retail is so easy! All you do is stand behind a counter all day. First of all, no. Just.. no. Second of all, my jobs have included but are not limited to the following tasks: dressing mannequins, folding & hanging more clothes than you have in your lifetime, climbing on ladders for hours at a time with 50+ pound boxes of product, building tables, drilling, screwing & nailing wooden fixtures together, dealing with irate humans, dealing with drunk humans, just dealing with humans in general actually, visual merchandising, being available at a moments notice to come into work to keep the store open when someone calls out, quits etc., standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day, sweeping, mopping, dusting, taking out carts full of trash, & tons & tons of paperwork. All while being expected to simultaneously make literally thousands of dollars. Please do not insult me & other hardworking people by saying such ignorant things about retail.
