One of my favorite books is: amazon/How-Lie-Statistics-Darrell-Huff/dp/0393310728/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403850132&sr=8-1&keywords=How+lie+with+statistics Is YOUR news reports helping you . . . or someone else? A few years ago, I would have believed everything the evening news reported. I believed in the power of truth and the morals of brave journalists. I even studied to be one. But lately I have been doing my grown-up homework. First let me say, I am an American, NOT a Republican, NOT a Democrat. Lets consider the Christie bridge closure scandal. If you have been following it, you know they are still investigating it and have not hard evidence. BUT during the first week it happened, the 3 major networks spent 112 minutes covering it. And the New York Times, the LA Times, and the Washington Post published 56 articles and commentaries. Do you love and support our troops? Our vets? How many died unnecessarily during the past 5 years while VA administers received millions in bonuses? How many minutes were spent reporting this on the 3 major networks during the first week? None. How many during the second week? Zero. Wow, and the vets were still dying during this time. The liberal newspapers did better -- 2 articles the first week. Vets were still dying. I loved the nightly news, but now I wonder how much they ARE NOT TELLING US. And why?
