One of the hardest things in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn. Nearly eight years ago there was an ugly split in the congregation where I was pastor. It was painful and frightening. It would have been very easy to burn the bridge and move on to the next assignment. Most of the people in my life would have understood if I did. But something within me was telling me that it was a bridge to cross, not burn. I am so glad I stayed. It was the most difficult thing I ever endured professionally. But today, I am enjoying blessings that I would have missed if I turned into a bridge burner. So many good and even great things have happened in my life since the crisis of eight years ago. Actually, too many to list in an email that ought to be short. If I would have burned that bridge in 2006, I would have never been a part of Knights of the 21st Century, and 5,000 heroes would not have received this email this morning. May God grant us all the wisdom to know which bridges to burn, and which ones to cross! Steve Sabol Knights of the 21st Century
