One of the most dangerous teachings is one which is being taught - TopicsExpress

One of the most dangerous teachings is one which is being taught from the lack of proper interpretation of what is being conveyed in Scriptures. Hebrews 6:1-8 is no exception. The Peril of Not Progressing Hebrews 6:1-8 NKJV 1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will[a] do if God permits. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away,[b] to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned. Its because of verses 4, 5 and 6 that many take this passage to mean that salvation is something that can be rescinded. That it can be lost. That it can be repossessed and/or impounded. And if one isnt familiar with the biblical message as a whole it would be very easy to assume a teaching which the Bible doesnt confirm. Scriptures have to be consistent with scriptures. If a chapter of a Book in the Bible seems to say one thing is true and another seems to say that the opposite is true; they both cant be harmonized by that same assumption. Therefore, either God is a liar (which scriptures adamantly declare and affirm that Hes not) or the interpretation of those assumptions are erroneous and flawed. God cannot be both: the gifter of eternal life and the rescinder of eternal life simultaneously. He did not send His Son to condemn but that everyone through Him might have eternal life. Jesus Christ is the Author of Salvation. An author is the one who creates something. Invents it. Determines it. Writes and stipulates it. Controls it. Salvation belongs to Jesus Christ and is given to us as a free gift. God doesnt give salvation then snatch it back. He doesnt tease nor tempt nor play games. Its all or nothing with God. ALL OR NOTHING. Lets examine what is actually being said: For it is impossible for those [who have TASTED] the heavenly GIFT...who were [once ENLIGHTENED] and who have become [PARTAKERS] of the Holy Spirit...and have [TASTED] the good Word of God and the Powers of the age to come; if they [FALL AWAY] for them to be [RENEWED again to REPENTANCE] since in doing so would cause them to crucify again [FOR THEMSELVES] the Son of God [AFRESH]...and in doing so also putting Him to [OPEN SHAME]. First of all: this isnt referring to those who have their salvation secured...its referring to those whom are the chaff of the congregations of the saints. Those who have tasted the Gift. Who were exposed (enlightened) to the Gospel. Who were partakers, not recipients, of the Holy Spirit. What is partake? par·take verb \pär-ˈtāk, pər-\ : to have a share or part of something along with others : to join with others in doing something : to take part in something : to have some of the qualities of something Full Definition of PARTAKE intransitive verb 1: to take part in or experience something along with others 2: to have a portion (as of food or drink) 3: to possess or share a certain nature or attribute Thus, partaking in something is not the same as belonging to something or having that something belong to you. These are people who share the Christian experience: attend services, participate in activities, praise, worship, etc. They do all the outward motions of a Christian but are not truly transformed by the Gospel. Their faith is not in the Lord. They may have faith in their pastor or leadership, or congregation as a whole...but they dont have faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I REALIZE THAT THIS IS VERY LONG, BUT SOMETIMES IN ORDER TO PROPERLY EXPLAIN SOMETHING LENGTH IS NECESSARY AND CANNOT BE AVOIDED. I TAKE NO PLEASURE IN LONG POSTS, BUT I DO NOT APOLOGIZE FOR TEACHING ALL THAT IS VITAL FOR EDIFICATION. PART 1 OF 3 A GIFT THAT IS UNRELIABLE? Proverbs 4:7 NKJV 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
