Open Letter To President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan On Ogun PDP Gubernatorial Ticket “OGUN PDP ON THE VERGE OF DESTRUCTION OVER THE DEVILISH ATTEMPT TO FOIST DIMEJI BANKOLE ON THE PARTY” Mr President Sir, Ordinarily, we would not have reacted to the report below but when lies, insinuations and wicked rumours are allowed to go unchecked, they may begin to wear a toga of truth. Below is a report made available to us this morning: “OGUN PDP GOV. TICKET: National Caucus Takes Over Primaries. Members of the national caucus of the PDP yesterday held a Special Congress at the Presidential Villa to choose the governorship candidate for Ogun PDP.The Causus members that supervised the congress include President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark, Chief Tony Anenih and Deputy Speaker Ihedioha. The Nine Special delegate were Dimeji Bankole, OGD, Buruji Kashamu, Jubril Martins Kuye, Sen Lekan Mustapha, Sen Osolake, Lola Abiola-Edewor, Hon Wale Ogunbanjo and Hon Abiodun Akovoyon.First Round of voting began at precisely 9:25pm to decide which zone should produce the governor. 7 of the 9 delegates voted that Ogun Central should produce the governor while Buruji Kashamu and Hon. Abiodun Akovoyon (representing Ipokia State constituency) also voted in favour of Ogun West agenda. After the first round of voting, the meeting was adjourned till 11:30 to pick the candidate. Rt Hon Dimeji Bankole and former Minister Sharafa Tunji Ishola were nominated. The meeting then went into a closed session. Around 1:30am, the 9 special delegates emerged from the inner room, immediately entered their cars, leaving the Presidential Villa without addressing the Press. News however filtered out that after the voting took place the National caucus enjoined all the stakeholders to abide by whatever decision taken by the party at the Special Congress. They all pledged to work together for the good of the party.Although the result of the congress was not announced. An aide to one of the caucus member got info from his boss that Bankole got 5 votes while Sarafa got 1 vote. 3 of the delegate abstained from voting. The national caucus later decided to officially communicate the result of the Congress to the PDP National Working Commitee today (friday) through the National Chairman, Dr. Adamu Mua’zu” (BY: Hon. Wale Rosanwo, the Dimeji Bankole’s social medial Spokeperson) Mr President Sir, we are conscious of the fact that you are not only an agent of equity, justice and fairness but also a beneficiary. It is on this premise that we are confident that you will not be a party to the imposition of an unpopular person as the candidate of the party. It is important to reiterate the fact that the composition of the “emergency delegates to the Abuja meeting” is nothing short of a coup against Ogun WEST and to further advance the Ogun Central Agenda by a clique of Leaders with a selfish ploy to foist Dimeji Bankole on Ogun PDP. Please be guided that, Ogun State is divided into 3 senatorial districts. Ogun East, West and Central; Ogun West is the only district that has not produce governor in the 38 years of the creation of the State. From all of the above, it is clear that Ogun West has not only been sidelined in the scheme of things, but also being used as political instruments for selfish reasons. Otherwise, how can one explain that from the alleged “9 special delegate” that met with your Excellency, Ogun East has five, Ogun Central three and Ogun West with just one representative (whose inclusion was even made from Ogun central to project an narrow agenda). Where is the fairness here? How can a decision taken at such a meeting be objective? We say NO to this! Here is the analysis of the members and their allegiances: OGUN EAST 1. Otunba Gbenga Daniel : Neutral 2. Prince Buruji kashamu : Ogun West advocate 3. Jubril Martins Kuye : For Dimeji Bankole/ Egba agenda 4. Lekan Mustapha : For Dimeji Bankole/ Egba agenda 5. Wale Ogunbanjo : For Dimeji Bankole/ Egba agenda OGUN CENTRAL 1. Sen. Osolake : For Sarafa Ishola/ Egba agenda 2. Dimeji Bankole : For Aspirant/ Dimeji Bankole/ Egba agenda 3. Lola Abiola-Edewor : For Sarafa Isola/ Egba agenda OGUN WEST 1. Hon. Akovoyon : For Dimeji Bankole/ Egba agenda The distribution in the above table clearly explains the following: 1. That Ogun west was not duly represented which is an affront on our collective destiny as a people. 2. That the composition of the alleged ‘’special delegate’’ was maliciously lopsided. 3. That Hon. Akovoyon is not competent to represent the Interest of Ogun West, as he does not fall within the LEADERSHIP of Ogun West; moreso that he is neck-deep in the Bankole agenda. 4. That the rationale behind his inclusion in the alleged delegate is both questionable and laughable; one can only imagine his contribution. 5. We are therefore of the opinion that Hon Akovoyon, being an Aspirant as well as the Ogun West Coordinator of Hon. Dimeji Bankole(,an Aspirant from Ogun Central) is not qualified to be part of the delegates. 6. That the composition of the delegation clearly manifests TOTAL DISREGARD and EXCLUSION of the good people of Ogun West from the entity called Ogun State and add to that, aside OGD, Kashamu and Kuye, the other six names are not competent to choose Ogun PDP gubernatorial candidate. 7. That the above does not represent the wish of teeming members of the party as it is clear that the views and perception of the electorate has not been factored into the above. 8. That our subjugation since the creation of Ogun State has no doubt created political awareness in our folks and any further subterfuge will spark a reaction, which may not be in the interest of the party in the coming election. 9. That our case may not be different from SOUTH/ SOUTH in Nigeria where His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan hails. 10. That the entire youth and people of Ogun West in general will stand by our brother Mr Gboyega Nasir Isiaka who won the Primaries conducted by the party as any injustice done to him is tantamount to injustice to all Ogun Westerners and shall be resisted. 11. That if Nigerians ensures equity, justice and fairness to the South/ South, it becomes expedient that same be replicated in Ogun State for Ogun West Senatorial District who has never produced the Governor since the creation of the state 38years ago. 12. That the people of Ogun West will resist this ugly trend, as our people shall be at liberty to decide the political party that is sympathetic to our plight. 13. That any attempt to foist a grossly unpopular Dimeji Bankole who lost election in only one local government and his Ward in 2011 election even as a seating HoR Speaker, and whose staff that worked with him as the Speaker of the Federal House of Representative are now in APC will lead to victory for APC in Ogun State. 14. That neither Mr Sarafa Tunji Ishola nor Hon.Dimeji Bankole can win Ogun Central against an Incumbent who is equally from the same Districts with them not to think other Senatorial Districts (not in 2015 election). 15. That the Ogun Central Agenda is a ploy to ensure victory for APC in 2015 as it is clear that with Ogun West candidate, PDP will record bloc vote from Ogun West add to the near-bloc votes from Ogun east thereby guaranteeing victory for PDP. Sir, it is also important to state that the arguments propounded by these “emergency delegates” is faulty, baseless and cannot pass any empirical test of the existential realities that will determine the winner of the impending election. Ogun PDP has been is crisis for the past six years and it was this type of tendency that made us loose the elections in 2011. Must Ogun West always be sacrificed for other senatorial districts? Any attempt to truncate the mandate freely given to a son of ours, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka via a popular and legal primaries conducted on 8th December 2014 will be vehemently resisted and it will mark the waterloo of the party for the second electoral cycle running. We urge you to use your good office to stop those pursuing this repugnant agenda and their collaborators in the NWC . Thank you sir.
