Our ANC Western Cape leader Marius Fransmans message on Facebook: As we near the end of our term as PEC, we see quite a few comrades in different ways expressing their views/attitudes on how to strengthen the movement in WC. There can never be a problem with comrades want to engage on such; the problem mostly arise where and how one expresses ones views. When does a lobby group becomes just another faction? We recently saw some comrades boldly convene such meetings to discuss unity, but then doing it in the absence of the legitimate structures at branch, regional and provincial level. The PEC met this weekend and reiterated our stance that whatever any of us feel - NONE of us must fight factional interests via the media, as this will just further lead to our own destruction. You would have observed that under the current leadership, we adhered to an approach that whatever internal challenges, we will not resort to breaking down each other in public. Thus as we entering the period in the next few months to branch, regional and provincial conferences, we as the elected leadership call on comrades to be sensitive in the way we engage, what we say, how we say it, our actions and counter-actions - all of it must be done in the spirit and integrity to deepen unity. We have therefore decided that comrades (all comrades) have the right to raise their views inside the movement, and we created a space for that, through sub-regional Cadres Forums. Theres a tendency by some to put up strange meetings and not attend cadres forums. Leadership calls on comrades from different persuasions to air your views at such forums. We also agreed that we must create a stronger ANC with more vibrant and energized branch structures, so we must build branches in ALL wards - even where it is difficult to organize. We must also live out the Imvuselelo program and each one of us should help signing up new members and also those whose membership lapsed. Our target should be 100 000 at the end of December, as decided by the PEC. Lets also be sensitive to the national question - and lets consolidate our base, and make strong increases in frontier areas, especially also the Cape Flats where we still struggle to organize. It therefore becomes our responsibility to stop the bickering and do what is expected of each one of us - organize the unorganized!!
