Our Final 2013 Race Review, A short but fun season has come to an end with a great night of family and friends racing. The night started off with the command to “start your engines” by our Grand Marshal, Joe Kortenber, with his dad sitting five feet away in the burnout box. Well done Joe, we all heard you loud and clear. Our final night would play out to produce a first time winner, as Kim Glass and Bobby Marcheski would make it to their first FnF Racing main event final. Kim in her Jr Comp dragster would face Sherri Nahodil in the first round. Kim took a slight starting line advantage and started chasing down Sherri’s Camaro. When the cars hit the stripe Kim would take the win by just three feet, moving her to the second round against Danny Kortenber and his Camaro. This time it was Danny with the starting line advantage. Once again the cars would cross the stripe just three feet apart with Dan breaking out and handing Kim the win, moving her to the semi against Shawn Morgan, the night’s number one qualifier with a perfect .000 reaction time. Kim and Shawn left the starting just five thousands of a second apart, setting up a great race. Kim would drive around Shawn and take the stripe by just ten inches, moving her to her first final round ever. Kim would face up and coming driver Bobby Marcheski in his mid ten second S10 truck. Bobby was on a high as his night had already included taking down his father in the first round and the point leader in the second round, denying him the sweep of the series. Bobby would then face Chuck Lewis in the semi. The race would end early as Chuck would go red moving Bobby to his first FnF Racing main event final round. The final round would end in a hurry as Bobby would be denied by the BIG RED BULB, giving Kim her first final round win. Congratulations Kim. Great night! Our Pro Consy race saw Andre Wiggins, a first time FnF racer against Rick Hozjan. Rick would take the starting line advantage and start chasing down Andre after a four second wait. When the boards lit up it was Rick taking the win in a double breakout to end our last night of racing. That win by Rick would move him into third place in the Pro Consy standings, earning him not one but two trophies in the same round. Nice job Rick. Shawn Morgan was our number one qualifier. John Nahodil took home the series overall title along with the Holeshot Title and the One-Shot cash. Sherri Nahodil took the first TnT/Torco “Pro Consy” Championship trophy. Shawn Morgan took second overall in the series. Chuck Lewis took home the third place cup. Dave Van Winkle earned the second place trophy in the Pro Consy Series. Rick Hozjan took third in the Pro Consy Series. Lloyd Coker took second in the Holeshot Standings. Diane Dyer was third. All and all, forty-two trophies were handed out in just four races this season thanks to our sponsors. We had our first ever arm drop round of qualifying to add a little more fun to the night. The video for that will be posted soon. Special congratulations to Danny Kortenber. Danny won our “2013 Most Improved Driver Award” and then to prove it wasn’t a fluke Danny went on to win in the American Dragcar Blackout race on Friday night as well. Nice Job Danny, enjoy it! There is just so much to about every year with FnF Racing. So many good memories, so many good monuments, I think I will just let the photos tell the story. Thanks for another great season guys, can’t wait for next year. The photos and video will be posted soon.
