Our baby is back home after a months stay in ICU. We (myself and my wife Steffy Antony) have no words to describe what we have been going through in the last one month, but now we understand that it is prayers that helped us to stay calm and go through this struggle. What we witnessed is an amazing grace of God who was present with us throughout. We could feel it from the beginning, and here is how we felt it. 1. We did not even plan to take her to hospital for a check up as there was nearly no symptoms. I was planning to take her the next day. Finally something prompted me in my mind to take her to hospital. On arrival doctor was shocked to see that she could hardly breathe. One more day, and the story would have been different. That was our Lord who prompted me at the right time. 2. The hospital had a chapel. We felt difficult to pray initially, as if we were strangers to God. On the other side, we kept on hearing bad news one after the other. At a time we lost all hopes completely and we broke down. Now we could tune ourselves with Lord better. We asked for prayer support to everyone. And we started seeing the progress immediately. 3. During the initial time, doctors saw a slight progress, and thus they decided to remove ventilator. After the removal, babys condition went worse and one of her lungs collapsed. That was the time we started loosing hope. After we strengthened our prayers, we started seeing progress and about 10 days later, baby pulled out the ventilator by herself. Now she did not go back to breathing problems. 4. Even though she was on artificial breathing, baby was really active and pleasant, as if she is playing with someone. Sedations couldnt put her asleep for longer. She kept on waving her legs and hands and looked around the NICU from where she was lying. Seeing her active kept us in confidence and control. Was it really possible for a new born to take so many high dose antibiotics, sedatives and frequent nebulizations, that too when she was on artificial breathing? It was our lord who kept engaged with her. 5. Hospital stay was becoming hectic and unmanageable as the baby got shifted to a ward. There was no one who could actually support. I had to resume to my office and Isabelles school re-opened. Hospital was far hence daily commuting was becoming a problem. In the hospital, Steffy was alone all the day struggling to manage the baby along with other things. 21 days of antibiotic was on course, and now only 15 days have passed. On Saturday, doctors were trying to find a vein in her body for injecting the iv, however all her visible veins are already consumed. And then the doctors decided to change the remaining course of medicines into oral, and allowed us to come back home. Now the baby is fine and we strongly believe that these days were a going back to God, finding him where we had left him before. We know that a lot of you have prayed for us, and let me tell you all those prayers are heard. Thanks to all our family members for standing with us in every way, friends from all beliefs who prayers so wholeheartedly, church members, hospital staff, neighbors, Ozone Media company and colleagues. Finally, here are something that helped us go through firmly through out the painful days... 1. We never complained - did not blame God at all. Instead we happily realized that God is in turn trying to get back to us in some way. 2. We kept thanking God, for taking us for so long without a tragedy. We saw many babies dying or in other worse conditions. We saw people cursing the hospital or God himself. However we did not stop thanking God. 3. We have assumed that Gods in charge. We asked God to be her doctors, nurses, medicines, oxygen, nebulizer and everything possible. We were accepted. Thanks for reading our story. We are more than happy if this incident could even slightly encourage you to be firm in your faith. Nothing is impossible to God!
