Our devotion for today Title: Life Is The Ultimate! Text: Genesis 14: 21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself. Amen! Tragedy is a part of life. Even as children of God, there are times when the unexpected happens and makes us lose virtually everything we ever toiled for. Unfortunate events like accidents (eg. fire outbreak, road & industrial accidents), OR natural disasters (like floods, earthquakes) can destroy so much property in a matter of minutes. Other situations such as Harsh Economic Pressures and Government Directives can affect businesses, incomes and employment. An individual may lose so much in days what he has gathered over a lifetime. The king of Elam attacked, conquered and took possession of five cities including Sodom and Gomorrah. The army of Abram later defeated the king of Elam and restored to the conquered states all the possessions and people that Elam had captured. Interestingly, the king of Sodom asked Abram to keep the possessions to himself but GIVE HIS PEOPLE BACK. The king by his words placed a great deal of importance on life (people) than possessions. When we lose everything but life, we still need to be grateful to God. The tragedy may be terrible and the loss, huge but everything can be restored if we have life. A nation with well developed people is capable of restoring all it has lost in the past. With your life still secured, do not be afraid. God will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten. Surely you will have plenty to eat until you are full. And you will praise the name of the Lord your God who has worked wonders for you; never again will you be ashamed (Joel 2: 25- 26). Lets pray Father we thank you for our lives today. We Pray for long life with divine favour to recover all that we have lost. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
