Over billions of years, on many planets, life is consciously created and evolution is driven by specific laws set forth by the Creation in the beginning. The human being, and its many fold variations of size, skin color, biology, etc. is the highest form of life, and it is completely unique from other forms in that it is endowed with the Creative power to think. The animals, plants, microorganisms and other variations of life are sentient, intelligent, and do have feelings, but what they are not endowed with is a conscious intellect; for they learn through instinct, while we learn through volitional consciousness related evolution.
