PHYSICAL STRENGTH VERSUS INWARD STRENGTH I think that sometimes - TopicsExpress

PHYSICAL STRENGTH VERSUS INWARD STRENGTH I think that sometimes we are more concerned about building up our physical muscles than we are about building up our spiritual muscles. It’s okay to be physically fit, but if your inner man isn’t fit, then it isn’t going to do you any good in the long run. II Timothy 2:1 says So you, my son, be strong (strengthened inwardly) in the grace (spiritual blessing) that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus. If we don’t build up our inward man then we will not be able to withstand the trials that come our way. God has given us spiritual muscles to use, to help us; however, what good is it to have them if you are not going to use them, exercise them? I love the story of Sampson and Delilah. Sampson was physically fit but he was in need of some inward strength. Sampson was spiritually weak. I believe Sampson let his physical appearance go to his head, which caused him to think from his head (outward man), not his spirit (inward man). Sampson couldn’t even see that Delilah was bad, that she was trying to harm him. He was so caught up in her physical beauty that it clouded his judgment. If Sampson would have been spiritually strong, he would have recognized evil when he saw it. This is why we have to walk in the spirit, so we can discern the things in the spirit. If we walk in our flesh and not in the spirit, we fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Sampson fulfilled the lusts of the flesh, which took away his strength, and led to his downfall. He allowed himself to be deceived, because he was spiritually weak. I love this part. When Sampson cried out to God, God used him one more time. In the end, Sampson was victorious. I don’t know about you, but I would rather figures these things out sooner than later, before my strength is gone, and my eyes are gouged out. Listen, those physical muscles aren’t going to help you fight the enemy, you need a strong spirit, one that is filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the most powerful weapon you can have to fight those inward battles. Galatians 5:16 in the amplified says But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). Don’t be too concerned about being PHYSICALLY FIT, begin working on your SPIRITUAL MAN, then you will be physically and mentally fit. Then you will be able to say no to your flesh. Have a blessed and glorious day! ~~Michelle Thomas~~
