PLEASE COME HAVE ICE CREAM, MILK AND COOKIES WITH AG COMMISSIONER - TopicsExpress

PLEASE COME HAVE ICE CREAM, MILK AND COOKIES WITH AG COMMISSIONER COMER LeCows Dairy is the last dairy farm in McCracken County. Our dairy farm has been at this location for the last forty-nine years and was an operating dairy farm before Mom and Dad bought it in 1964. But, as the local demographics kept changing, the county became more urban. Most people are three to four generations removed from the family farm. As sixth, seventh and possibly eighth generation dairy farmers (Lesa, Ellie and Sadie), we take immense pride in the farm our parents entrusted us to manage. We feel very strongly sharing our dairy and grain farm with others as frequent visitors to this page are already aware. We take our role as agriculture advocates and educators very seriously. Social media has helped us reach many who may not know what happens on a farm each day. We share our family life on the farm almost daily. So, we are pleased to announce that Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will be visiting our family dairy farm on Wednesday, July 31 at 10:00 am to promote the Ag Department’s “Farms are Fun” program. Even though we have been Ag Advocates already by opening our farm for tours and events, we are planning to more formally get into the Agri-Tourism Business. Commission Comer is spending the entire week in Western Kentucky and making many visits, so for him to spend an hour with us in his busy schedule is an enormous honor. We want to open his visit to those who are involved, interested or just curious about agriculture. For me, Ag Advocacy is a secondary passion to farming. We have invited Southeast United Dairy Association Industry (SUDIA) personnel from their headquarters in Atlanta to help share family dairy farming across nine states in the Southeast. Kentucky Farm Bureau will be in attendance to answer any questions on how farmers work with our urban neighbors. Important to any business, and farming is no different, is their financial institution. Paducah Bank is supportive of LeCows. This should be exciting for everyone who attends since Paducah Bank’s WOW! Ice Cream Truck will be here to hand out dairy treats. Southeast Dairy and Dairy Farmers of America will also be handing out milk and treats. The Kentucky Soybean Assoication will also be here to share the soybean story too. We have Phelps Farm and Home Store and H&R Agri-Power contributing to the festivities as well. LeCows Dairy Family wants to show Ag Commissioner a big Western Kentucky welcome. If you are interested, we would love to see you on Wednesday July 31 starting around 9:30 am.
