PM Modi ji broke protocol to receive American President Obama at the Delhi airport today. This when neither Obama, nor his Vice-President Joe Biden and not even the current US Secretary of State John Kerry were there to receive Modi ji at the NYC airport when Modi ji visited the US back in September last year. But this breaking of protocol is not new. Even Dr. Manmohan Singh broke the protocol and went to the airport to receive Obama when he first visited India in 2010. And not just that, Dr. Manmohan Singh also broke protocol to receive Dubya, I mean George W. Bush when he visited India in 2006. Proves that whether the US President is White or Colored, Republican or Democrat, statesmen of post-1991 Neo-Liberal India (whether from the BJP or from Congress) will ensure that the visiting Americans feel that the country that they have landed in considers them (the US i.e.) an imperial hegemonic superpower. Though, 54 years ago, an American President had done the opposite. He broke protocol to recieve an Indian Prime Minister at the airport (at a time when India & US relations were not good). That American President was John F. Kennedy, perhaps the last genuinely Liberal American President. And the Indian Prime Minister he received was Jawahar Lal Nehru. Unfortunately, India doesnt have leaders like Nehru now, it only has servile stooges as statesmen. (For the image of Kennedy receiving Nehru, see the comments section of this post)
